Keeping Our Promise-Rochester
Keeping Our Promise-Rochester (KOPR) is the Rochester chapter of a national organization that assists in the resettlement of Afghan and Iraqi civilians who worked with US troops and contractors in their home countries, often risking their lives (and sometimes losing them) in combat, at the side of American soldiers. Because they served with Americans, they are targeted by the Taliban and Isis. The US has a program of Special Immigrant Visas for these brave men and women and their families.
They arrive in Rochester with very little; KOPR finds them housing and furniture and pays the first month's rent, and provides basic household necessities. Messiah assists in these efforts by collecting donations of personal care and household consumables.
